Applying Avon's Smooth Mineral Makeup:
Tap on lid before opening to get minerals down so when you open jar they don't go everywhere. If it has a seal over sifter section, remove this first otherwise minerals will not come out.
NOTE: Brushes may shed during usage, this is normal and will stop after some usage.
Place the bristles of your brush against the holes in the top of the shaker jar and invert the jar, adding minerals to your brush. Revert the jar to its upright position and remove the brush from the holes, tap the brush against a hard surface to nestle the minerals within the brush head. Or tap a small amount of minerals into the jar’s lid and swirl the brush into it, then tap the end of the brush onto the hard surface to embed the minerals.
To apply the minerals, start at the hairline and swirl onto your face in downward motions over your cheekbones and towards the nose. Start with a little and use more as needed, a little goes a long way so don't go crazy with the minerals.
Blemishes are a snap to hide, using a concealer and your concealer brush, apply a small amount directly to the area and blend well.
If your foundation appears pasty, here are a few possibilities:
1. The brush.
The wrong brush can really make a difference in mineral makeup and not the right kind! Our Kabuki brushes are soft and well-made, applying the minerals with a light touch that looks and feels natural.

Let The Tax Genie Out Of The Bottle Starting A Small Business Expands Deduction Possibilities.This update of a column originally published Feb. 15 clarifies the standard deduction for business miles driven in 2006 and 2007. By Jennifer Openshaw
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- If you are an employee, you have little control over your tax destiny. Starting your own small business could change that a lot.
As a salaried employee you can play with 401(k) deferrals, cafeteria plans or maybe a health savings account or some other retirement plan if you qualify. Owning a rental property might also help. Other than that, you're pretty much locked in.
But here's a secret -- and believe me, I know from experience: If you start a legitimate business, even a small one, the new tax levers you'll get can really work to your advantage.
Why? Small business and entrepreneurship are part of the American Dream, and Congress wants to help out. Make no mistake -- their real hope and desire is that some of those small businesses become big ones that hire lots of people and generate more tax revenue down the road.
Upshot: you might be surprised at what you, as business owner, can write off.
Here's how it works. With a "Schedule C" business, named for the tax form used to account for it, all legitimate costs of doing business are fair game to be written off. Now, especially if your business is home-based, the natural commingling of personal and business expenses opens new possibilities. A few examples:
*Operating expenses and supplies. Anything purchased to help in your trade counts. As a part-time business or marketing consultant, or even a real estate agent, costs of a Wall Street Journal or relevant magazine subscription can be deducted. Or, as a weekend wedding photographer, you buy a ladder for better shooting angles. That counts too -- even if you also use it to remove leaves from your gutters.
*Travel. Depending on your business, travel may be deductible. Attend a conference or meet with a client -- and take the family along. Write off your individual expenses -- and since you'll need a hotel and rental car whether you're one or four, the family shares in the subsidy.
*Vehicles. It's hard to write off an entire vehicle, but you can take the mileage deduction, 48.5 cents a mile for business miles driven in 2007 (44.5 cents per mile for 2006), for legitimate business activities. Combine personal trips with that business purpose -- i.e. go to the post office and make other stops on the way, the whole trip counts. Ditto for that city trip to meet a client.
*Home office. You need to do business somewhere, and if that somewhere is a separate room in your home you can deduct costs to outfit that room, plus a prorated portion of all home expenses. So if your office is 10% of your home and you spend $5,000 to repave the driveway, write off $500.
*Other facilities. You have business records and computer backups that need to be stored somewhere. So rent a storage unit -- and if Grandma's old dining table ends up in there too, it still counts.
For those with a family and especially children old enough to perform business tasks:
*Hire the kids. Your 12-year-old computer whiz could be a tax bonanza. Hire him or her to install software, back up computers or produce DVDs of your work. Pay a reasonable wage and expense it with no worries so long as the dependent's earned income stays under the standard deduction (currently $5,350). Sweeping floors or other more traditional pursuits also qualify. And don't forget Grandma and other relatives -- their deductible wages also stay in the family.Read The Rest Of The Article

Sue Mazza’s astute business sense and entrepreneurial spirit lead her to leave her day job and to strike out on her own.
Seventeen years ago, Sue Mazza couldn’t have imagined that her Avon business would become so successful, enabling her to have a career that provided both the financial security she was craving and a flexible work schedule so she could take care of her family. Today, the Senior Executive Unit Leader and President’s Club member can boast Total Unit Sales amounting to $1.9 million this year.
But Sue’s Avon career couldn’t have had a more inauspicious beginning. “My mother wanted to buy Avon bubble bath and couldn’t find a Representative to sell it to her, so I became her Representative,” says Sue. Still working full-time at a high-powered job in advertising sales and sales management at the time, Sue didn’t take her Avon career seriously until after her second daughter, Stephanie, now 15, was born. But, she admits, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to earn enough money with her business.
“In my other job, I would call on corporate clients, but my Avon business meant developing relationships on a one-on-one basis, and that was different from what I was used to doing,” she says. Although challenging at first, Sue soon found that she could use many of the skills she had developed in her advertising career in her new business and best of all, she could do it at her own pace.
“The nice thing about Avon is that you can build your business fast or slow. When my kids were young, I devoted less time to it. Now that they’re older, I can devote more time to it, so that now it’s become a full-time business for me,” says Sue. “Now I’m my own boss and I don’t have to punch a clock. I can take vacations with my family and not worry about job security when I get back.”
Building Partnerships
Sue attributes her success to finding Recruits, who, like her, who want something more out of life than just a “job” and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals. She also says that partnering with one Recruit at a time has helped her become successful. “I look at people’s sales and whether they’re involved in their business as far as contacting me if they have questions or problems and coming to our meetings. If I can see a spark of interest in an individual, I work with that person,” says Sue, who uses Meetings to Go and Downline Manager to track her Downline’s progress.
“The first thing I do every morning is fire up the computer to see what’s going on with my group,” she says. “I look to see who’s had high sales and whose Leadership titles may be at risk.” Partnering with her Executive Unit Leaders and Unit Leaders, Sue has developed a monthly program called Train the Trainer, which is held in seven locations near her hometown of Naperville, Illinois, and focuses on specific topics. For example, in April the meetings were devoted to ways Leadership Representatives could develop President’s Club members in their Downline. “With that combination of levels, Representatives sell more, they stay with Avon longer, and they make more money, so they’re happy,” says the 2005 Avon Woman of Enterprise Honoree.

Vondell McKenzie was steadfast in her faith and turned her Leadership dreams into an $8.2 million enterprise.
Few people saw Leadership as a big-ticket earning opportunity when it was introduced in 1991. But Vondell McKenzie, from Los Banos, California, saw a great future ahead for those brave enough to make the leap.
Vondell may have been new to Avon, but that didn’t stop her from telling those who would listen that Leadership was the perfect way “to turn a pocket-change operation into a six-figure business.” It was hardly an easy sell. “There simply wasn’t the organization, the support staff and tools that we have today,” says Vondell, now a Senior Executive Unit Leader. “And you had no examples to inspire you or people to show you the ropes.”
Vondell is a very persuasive person, with unshakable faith in her own instincts, even when they go against common wisdom. Those instincts, honed through years of sales experience, plus her willingness to take risks and, above all, her commitment to her Downline, have made Vondell a bona fide Avon success story — and an inspiration. The Honor Society member is one of Avon’s most successful Leadership Representatives. Her 16-year-old business generated over $8.2 million in total unit sales last cycle.
Perseverance in the face of setbacks has fueled Vondell’s success. Even personal tragedy has not deterred her. When she was 8 years old and growing up in Statesboro, Georgia, she saw her father’s auto repair shop burn to the ground. Undeterred by the setback, her father simply built a new shop, and soon it was business as usual.
When Vondell was a young girl of 15, her mother died. Twenty years later, herself a mother of three small children, she saw her home in Cincinnati go up in flames, taking with it many of the family’s worldly possessions. “I realized most acutely that anything material can be replaced, but the people who are close to you, you can’t replace them,” she says. “I still had my husband and my children, and that’s really what mattered.”
In 1991, having moved to California, she started an Avon business with her husband, Terry, who was then an engineer with IBM. She approached it with the seriousness of a full-time business: She set goals for herself, met them and then raised the sales bar — all the while building up her Downline.
“What I always tell anybody interested in Avon is that you have to be consistent, set goals and then meet them,” she says. “Even if you can only work two days a week, then you have to follow that schedule to achieve your goals.” Furthermore, anyone interested in earning six figures, she continues, “must approach Avon as a serious full-time business, one that will require sacrifices, late nights, total support from your family and a willingness to take risks.”
Terry and Vondell worked together for more than five years until he was diagnosed with cancer. Vondell then had to divide her time between her Avon business and caring for her husband. It has been 10 years since Terry’s death, and Vondell still feels the loss. “Not only did I lose someone dear to me, but I lost a business partner who helped me every step of the way to make this business thrive.”
Still, the family tradition continues. All three of her children have developed Avon businesses, while one of her grandsons, 31-year-old Adisa, is the newest member of the clan to start his own business.
But then Vondell looks upon her Downline, which is known as the Nova Group, as a kind of extended family. With thousands of Representatives in her “family,” Vondell is affectionately known as “Mom” and “Grandma” by many of those in her Downline.
Vondell emphasizes to new Recruits that Leadership is really the best way for earnings to increase exponentially. “One thing for sure is that if Representatives are having high sales, then they’ll have lots of Customers, and inevitably they will want to turn those Customers into Representatives,” says Vondell. ”You can’t build the kind of business like I have by myself. You need a team of people who share your goals in order to be successful.”
